Youth Outreach
The Outreach committee is working on getting in touch with youth to promote the organization and the youth conference in the summer at the High School level. Sylvia is working with St. Margaret’s and St. Michael’s University students to offer them CAPP Community Service hours to volunteer for Anti-dote. We will do an orientation for the racialised girls to go out into the community to outreach to other girls with brochures and short info talk during other CAPP classes. We need help with getting in touch with schools and service providers to schedule the volunteers to go in and present. Also, they will also get service hours by participating in some discussion groups about issues affecting them in Victoria. Thank you Sylvia for making the contacts!
Youth from the Conference: Monita, Tsigereda, Vanessa, Surgot Where are you?
Would love your help with the youth programming.
Drama Workshops:
I would like to introduce everyone to Janice Valdez. So comes to us with amazing drama experience and a Master’s in Drama Therapy. She is keen to start up a drama program for youth and aim to put on a production reflecting issues relevant to racialised girls. She hopes to start drama workshops up in May, so if you are interested and between the ages of 12-21 please contact Winnie at jaspatch@telus.net. If you know a youth who may be interested, let them know!!!
AD HOC Conference Committee
Until we get funding from HRDC for the summer career program, we need to start organizing the youth conference for this summer. We already have the background and outline from the last conference, so it will be a breeze( hee hee) We should start looking at workshops, space, funding, etc. So I am requesting from everyone and anyone, who is interested in volunteering for the Conference committee to email me jaspatch@telus.net or call me at 381-0862. For starters, when is a good time for the conference July, August? Give me some feedback.
Program Committee
We are looking for anyone interested in starting up some programs of their passion for youth and/or aunties. So if you have ideas, let me know and let’s get them going!!!! Anyone interested in:
Starting up discussion groups
Auntie Program- matching aunties with youth for support
Organize a party, get together, sharing cooking night, etc
Endless possibilities!
Antidote Monthly Meeting
Well that is it for right now. Plan on an Anti-dote members meeting in the second week of April. Date and place will be confirmed by Friday April 2nd.
See you soon,
Winnie Chow
